Photo Friday – Koo Koo Chicken

December 12, 2008

I finally got to go to Koo Koo Chicken.  I’d heard the name before from co workers.  This place is now my favorite place to eat in Taiwan.  The food was amazing!   While we ate a lot of good food at Koo Koo chicken, my favorite course was a bit ordinary and a bit out of the ordinary.

Just the first few courses!

My favorite meal was Koo Koo Chicken.   Koo Koo Chicken is essentially a whole chicken cooked in these giant kettles heated by burning wood.  The chicken is cut up whole (with bones).  You then put plastic gloves on, dip the chicken in a salt/pepper flavor and eat the chicken with your hands.  I always wonder how they get the flavors they get from food here in Taiwan.  I wasn’t disappointed.   It was a sight to be seen and just a bit old world and archaic feeling.

Old world cooking. Out of this world flavor!

Seriously though, the food was so flavorful and I can’t wait until the next time I get to eat at Koo Koo Chicken.

Enjoy your day folks.  I’m likely in transit as you read this.  Send me good thoughts as I sit in the giant germ tube known as an airplane.   More great stories to come.

Ride your bike!
